WABM's 5th annual Black Men's Initiative Forum: You Have The Right To Remain Educated
February 20, 2013
MADISON — The 5th annual Black Men's Initiative Forum- "You Have the Right to Remain Educated - The Black Male Interaction with the American Legal System” will be hosted by the Wisconsin Association of Black Men (WABM) this weekend.
WABM is returning with its 5th Annual Black Men's Initiative Forum to educate guests on the condition of the relationship between black males and the criminal justice system. With the recent events that have happened on campus and the staggering statistics surrounding black male incarceration, we can no longer sit and complain about this disparity without a legitimate effort at trying to dissect it and improve it for the betterment of our community. This year the keynote speaker will be Dr. Ivory Toldson — an associate professor at Howard University and senior research analyst for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
Every year, WABM and the Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity and Climate present this annual forum on self-developing strong male leaders of color. The event will take place on Friday, Feb. 22, 6-8:30 p.m. (dinner will be served) at Gordon Commons and Event Center, 770 W. Dayton St. and Saturday, Feb. 23, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (breakfast and lunch will be served) at the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon St.
