MADISON — The Mu Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of educational scholarships for graduating high school seniors attending a 4-year accredited public or private college or university. Applications are now available for students who will be enrolled full-time for the 2013 fall semester. The scholarship amounts range between $350-$500 per student and a one-time opportunity for the freshman year only.
The fraternity has a long and rich tradition of scholarship and recognizing academic excellence. This scholarship presents another opportunity to recognize an academically gifted, socially conscious and self-motived student in the Greater Madison community. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. develops leaders, promotes brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for our communities.
All applications must be postmarked by June 15, 2013 and submitted to Derek Johnson as referenced in the application package. Please see the attached package for additional information.
The applicant criteria are the following:
• Graduating high school senior residing in Dane County
• Cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
• Enrolled in a 4-year accredited institution for the Fall 2013 semester (any state)
Applicants will be judged in the following categories:
• Overall quality of application
• Grammar and sentence structure
• Complete and well-organized responses to essay questions
The students selected for the Mu Eta Lambda Educational Scholarship will be notified by July 15.
